The roommate and I had the opportunity to move from our downstairs apartment into the upstairs apartment right above us this summer. Our kindly landlords and super spoiled us rotten with amazing renovations that simply take our breath away. We thought we'd share how we've made our home.
The Kitchen
The kitchen, where the Roommate and I spent a lot of time, got a huge makeover. We saw the installation of new appliances, a new countertop, new backsplash, new lino flooring and a new sink. We also changed the wall color to a beautiful cream called Natural Linen and a wall of red called Chianti. New windows were added throughout the whole house, and the new one opens out and we often keep it open.
The Main Room
We also spend a lot of in the main room. The walls are primarily Natural Linen, once again, but this time we accented it with a wall of Cocoa Mousse, a really rich and warm brown color. All the hardwood floors were redone, giving them a nice warm feel as well. The trim was painted a mat white, as was the ceiling (which had been a shiny white before). This room also received new windows as well as a sliding glass door which will open up onto a deck in the backyard (which will be built beginning next week).
The Bedrooms
These we again painted in the Natural Linen. The closets and doors also got new coats of paint. We redid the lighting as well.
One of the bedrooms is functioning as the Roommate's Thesis Cave (or, the office). It got a wall painted in the same Cocoa Mousse as the main room.
The Bathroom
Out with the pink and in with the neutrals. The bathroom was retiled, got new lino flooring, a new sink, new lighting, and new towel racks. It's awesome.
Yay!!! Wow, you guys did a LOT of work. And it turned out SO great! Love LOVE the bathroom, and all the paint colors you choose. Very warm and welcoming!
