It's easy as pie to make.
Put a 12 oz package of chocolate chips, a stick of butter, and a cup of peanut butter in a sauce pan. Melt it, stirring a lot so it doesn't burn. You could also do this in the microwave but I much prefer the stove. For pretty much everything. I have a mostly dislike attitude toward microwaves. Moving on.
While the chocolate/peanut butter/butter mixture is smelling awesome on the stove, take a break between stirs and put a box of chex-type cereal in a bowl THAT HAS A LID. Lids are important for this snack. Also, you should probably take the cereal out of the box. Just saying.
Once the stuff from the saucepan is all melted and mixed, pour it over the cereal and gently stir it all up. I say gently because while broken, small bits of cereal covered in the chocolate stuff is delicious, it's harder to eat and requires a spoon which is not the way to eat puppy chow.
So. You've got it all mixed. You are supposed to let it cool a while and then pour powdered sugar over top of everything, put the lid on, and shake it around. I prefer the dancing around the kitchen method, personally. It should be all separated into separate cereal parts nicely covered in beautifully white powdered sugar.
BUT - if you are like me and can't wait for the mixture to cool, you just go right ahead and pour on the powdered sugar while the chocolate and peanut butter are still hot. Dance around the kitchen and eat away. You won't get the pretty white, separate cereal pieces, but you will get huge chunks of crispy cereal, smothered in chocolate and peanut butter, with the powdered sugar all melted into it. And it takes a while to eat because you've got to break it all apart.
It's deliciously messy.
It's definitely a great snack for that middle-of-the-semester slump. A warning: it somehow seems way more important than any homework that you may need to do.
