Goals

2012 ended with a quiet raising of glasses by my pajama clad family. It was followed by the disappointing realization that those glasses had already been emptied of the adult chocolate shakes my sister made.

2013 began with a cup of coffee, a dose of cold medicine, and the smell of my dad's homemade empanadas wafting through the house.

I posted resolutions last year, and only followed through on one of them (50 books in 2012! Woohoo!). And even though I'm proud of that accomplishment, that's still a terrible percentage of failure.

2013 holds a lot:
-continuing into my second year as the Director of Outreach at ICRC and as a barista at Starbucks (and all the those jobs include)
-beginning a 24-month distance learning program through CTS as I work toward ordination in the CRC
-another 50 non-career related books
-writing out the bible long hand as a way to discipline myself back into non-academic Scripture reading
-being more intentional about not eating gluten, and probably cutting some other things out of the diet
-walking outside more, even when its -30 out.

I don't know if those are resolutions, but they certainly hold goals within themselves.

Happy New Year, friends. Blessings as you continue on.

  1. Mmm...did you buy special pens for your Bible writing adventure? I keep eyeing some lovely journaling pens, but I'm cheap, and let's face it, I have no time to journal anyways. Good luck with your 2013 "goals"!

    1. So, I picked up some Sharpie Pens, which is are my new favorite thing. I'm writing longhand in a big moleskin notebook (as in, it's bigger than 8x10) but the pens don't bleed through at all. It takes a while to get used to writing with it, but it's really pretty!
