Homemade Bread

Things to remember when making bread:

1.  Do not pour water into a glass pan in the oven.  It will explode.  In the oven.  Glass will be everywhere. You will need to find a kindly neighbor willing to lend their oven (since you are on a deadline) while you wait for the glass to cool off so you can get it out of the oven.

2.  Artisan Bread in Five Minutes A Day is awesome.

Bread is always something I've wanted to master.  Or at least be decent at.  I found a great book which helps me be smart at bread making.  Even though I'm actually dumb when it comes to bread making.

The book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes A Day gives me the ability to make large batches of dough that are able to live in the refrigerator.  So I can just pull out a pound of dough and have fresh bread right then.  It's delightful.

I made the most basic bread recipe in the book last night for a soup supper at the seminary.  After I exploded a pan in the oven (I never took chemistry, okay!) and found a dear neighbor who let me use her oven, we had some really great, warm, crusty bread to eat with our various soups.  It was all gone by the end of the supper, so I think people liked it.

The picture is of the second loaf I put in the oven today.  Our house smells awesome.

I recommend the book, the website (point 2 above), and the bread.
